a smooth shift to a future-ready nomination platform

1. The solution core: At the heart of Helix is Superflow - our solution core – built to meet the unique integration and operational demands of the interconnector domain. Its microservice-based architecture supports flexible customisation and rapid scaling, while full cloud management ensures seamless updates, continuous availability, zero downtime rolling deployments, and strong regional failover—keeping ElecLink’s operations reliable under all circumstances.
2. Customisation: With the technical core in place, we concentrated on customising the platform to ElecLink’s specific operations. Guided by their business insights, we aligned the solution with strategic priorities from day one. We integrated essential systems to support ElecLink’s most business-critical processes, including outsourcing the auction workflow to the Joint Allocation Office (JAO) and automating communication with Transmission System Operators (TSOs), resulting in a more efficient and streamlined platform.
3. Ongoing improvements: Given the dynamic nature of the interconnector space, where regulations can change rapidly, we designed Helix with built-in adaptability. This flexibility enables the platform to quickly integrate new functions and respond to industry and regulatory shifts, ensuring it remains ahead of evolving requirements.
This approach enabled us to deliver a resilient, future-ready software more quickly and with reduced risk (in less than 15 months), fully aligned with ElecLink’s strategic priorities.
Helix also automates the management of interconnector capacity based on external inputs—such as limitations set by national transmission system operators (TSOs) to maintain grid stability. By integrating with the Joint Allocation Office (JAO), leading service provider for TSOs, the platform also seamlessly exchanges transmission rights (the legal entitlement to transfer electricity) and curtailment information (data on capacity restrictions). This automation eliminates the need for manual intervention, reducing errors, speeding up decision-making, and enhancing operational efficiency—ultimately enabling smoother, faster cross-border energy trading.
Beyond designing and developing Helix, we also ensure its ongoing, reliable operation through our industry-leading Technical Support service. Our 24/7/365 support team handles general enquiries and serves as the first responder for incidents. For more complex technical issues, our second- and third-line support teams are always just a phone call away—guaranteeing consistent service excellence, the Supercharge way.
