breaking barriers in dental care with AI

For decades, the dental industry has been constrained by closed, outdated systems that stifle innovation. FFD set out to change that. Together with Supercharge, FFD broke through long-standing barriers to create a platform that seamlessly integrates with existing practice management and imaging systems. The result is a universal AI clinical toolset that delivers faster, smarter, connected dentistry—higher-quality care in less time and with less effort.

outdated systems, missed opportunities

challenge

challenge

Dental practices have long relied on older, standalone practice management systems (PMS). While reliable in their time, many of these systems are now fragmented and outdated. Integration APIs are often limited or non-existent, making it difficult for new innovators to connect and deliver value.

The result? Innovation has been slow to reach dental professionals, and practices are frequently left with few opportunities to modernize. This leads to inefficiencies, added administrative work, and growing frustration for busy dentists, hygienists, assistants, and labs.

FFD saw the gap, and knew dental professionals deserved better. Their vision was bold: create a platform to overcome the “unintegratable” across the entire ecosystem, and deliver a smarter, universal clinical solution that utilizes AI to reduce friction, simplify the administrative burden and empower dental professionals to deliver higher quality care, with less time and effort. To bring this vision to life, they partnered with Supercharge.

teams behind ffd

Modernization in dentistry isn’t just about technology—it’s about understanding the people who use it. FFD and Supercharge uniquely brought together a diverse team of dentists, hygienists, assistants, engineers, designers, data experts, and creatives. Working hand in hand through the entire product lifecycle, they first listened to the experts, then brainstormed, designed, and refined solutions in a continuous, iterative cycle.

By mapping real-world workflows and studying how dental professionals work, the team identified exactly where technology could reduce friction. Engineers devised innovative technical solutions to integrate into systems previously considered unintegratable. Designers translated complex clinical processes into intuitive, human-centered beautiful experiences.

This cross-disciplinary collaboration ensured the technical architecture and user experience were in perfect harmony. Only then could the team focus on delivering a purpose-built workflow-driven system that truly works the way dental professionals work in their daily care for patients.

A clinical toolset, reimagined with intelligence

FFD delivers a reimagined dental platform designed for faster, smarter and more connected dentistry. All while staying beautifully simple to use. At its core, FFD brings a modern, AI-powered approach to the essential tools dental professionals rely on every day. From Scheduling and Charting to Imaging, Perio, Notes and now Collaboration, where each tool has been thoughtfully redesigned to streamline workflows and accelerate care. Where it matters most, AI is seamlessly embedded. Like in the speech-to-text and text enrichment feature, which uses a dental-specific language model to transcribe and enhance medical speech and standardize notes into the SOAP structure (Subjective, Objective, Assessment, Plan). This improves the quality of notes and reduces time spent on documentation.

Another area where FFD enhances the clinical experience with AI is Perio charting. Traditionally, practitioners had to follow rigid voice commands or rely on an assistant to record probing results.
With FFD’s perio experience, clinicians can dictate exams naturally, without needing predefined commands or training. This functionality utilizes natural voice interaction and AI to understand the “intent” of the provider followed by a visual result on the display. Users will be able to speak freely during the exam, even while talking to the patient, and the system will pick up only the clinically relevant input, ignoring casual conversation. No need for structured (robotic-like) commands or a second person to assist with manual data entry. The result: less time on admin, more time with patients.

Besides modernizing the clinical toolset, FFD sets a new standard with its dental collaboration tool. The dental collaboration tool enables real-time messaging around patient cases within and across practices, connecting dentists, staff, specialists, labs, and even patients securely. FFD ensures that sensitive information is always protected through end-to-end encryption, HIPAA-compliant access controls, and strict authentication protocols.

Lastly, FFD was built as a secure cloud-based platform to give dental professionals seamless access to patient data anytime, anywhere, on any device. Whether on desktop, tablet, or smartphone, the system keeps data synced in real time, allowing clinicians to stay connected and in control from the practice, from home, or on the go without ever compromising on security or performance.

“Dental practices are working harder than they should—not by choice, but because the systems they rely on were never built for today’s needs. Unlike hospitals, dentistry has no central entity funding modern software and integration, leaving most practices tied to legacy platforms from just a few vendors. While the front office has seen some innovation, the clinical side—where dentists, hygienists, and assistants care for patients every day—has been overlooked. That challenge became our opportunity: to make their work easier, smarter, and more focused on patients. But before we could reimagine the experience with modern design and AI, we had to solve the toughest problem—integrating with legacy systems. With Supercharge and our trusted dental advisors, we did just that. This is now the second company I’ve built with Supercharge, and none of it would be possible without their extraordinary team. Today, we’re proud of what we’ve built—but even more excited about what’s ahead: a mission to make clinical dentistry faster, smarter, and more connected than ever, giving professionals more time to do what they came here to do—care for their patients.”
